HouseBetter respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal data responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what choices you have regarding your data, including Google user data used for sign-in.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to operate HouseBetter:

  • Account information — Your name, email address, login credentials, account ID, and profile image when you create or use an account.
  • Floor plan data — Floor plan images you upload, anchor points you mark, rotation settings, purchased analysis records, and generated analysis results.
  • Contact data — Information you provide when contacting support, including your name, email address, and message.
  • Payment and transaction data — Purchase status, order identifiers, amount, and currency. We do not store full payment card numbers.
  • Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type, session information, and pages visited for security, fraud prevention, and service performance.

2. Google User Data We Access

If you choose to sign in with Google, HouseBetter accesses only the Google user data needed for authentication and account creation. We do not request Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or other restricted Google API scopes.

  • OpenID identifier — Used to authenticate your Google account and link it to your HouseBetter account.
  • Email address — Used to identify your account, prevent duplicate registrations, and communicate account-related notices.
  • Basic profile information — Including your display name and profile image, used to populate your HouseBetter profile.
  • OAuth account metadata — Our authentication provider may store Google account identifiers and token metadata required to keep your sign-in working and maintain account linkage.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal data, including Google user data, only for the following purposes:

  • To authenticate users and let you sign in to your HouseBetter account.
  • To create, maintain, and secure your account and purchased services.
  • To generate and deliver Feng Shui analysis results you request.
  • To send transactional emails such as email verification, password reset, and order-related notices.
  • To process purchases, refunds, customer support requests, and abuse-prevention checks.
  • To maintain service reliability, prevent fraud, and diagnose technical issues.

We do not sell Google user data or personal data. We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes. We do not use Google user data to train generalized AI or ML models.

4. How We Share Information

We share personal data only when necessary to operate the service, comply with law, or protect rights and security.

  • Authentication providers — Google is used only when you choose Google sign-in.
  • Email service providers — Transactional email providers such as Resend may process your email address and message content needed to send account emails.
  • Payment processors — Providers such as PayPal process payment and refund data needed to complete purchases.
  • Hosting, database, and infrastructure providers — These processors may store data on our behalf so the service can operate securely.
  • Legal or security disclosures — We may disclose data if required by law, legal process, or to investigate abuse, fraud, or security incidents.

We require service providers to handle data only for authorized business purposes and to protect it appropriately.

5. Data Storage and Protection

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal data. These measures include HTTPS encryption in transit, access controls for administrative systems, password hashing for locally managed credentials, and limiting data access to personnel and service providers who need it to operate the service.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to reduce risk and respond to security issues promptly.

6. Cookies and Session Technologies

We use essential cookies and session technologies to keep you signed in, protect accounts, remember preferences, and maintain core site functionality. We do not use Google user data obtained through Google APIs for advertising cookies or cross-site ad profiling.

7. Data Retention

We retain account data, analysis records, and transaction records for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide the service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Google account profile data linked to your HouseBetter account is retained while your account remains connected. Authentication logs, support messages, and transaction records may be retained for a limited period afterward where reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, bookkeeping, or legal compliance.

8. Data Deletion and Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You may also request deletion of data associated with Google sign-in.

To request deletion, please contact us through the Contact page using the email address associated with your account. We may request verification before completing a deletion request. Some records may be retained when required for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or chargeback-handling purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

HouseBetter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
